Sara Ballard is a U.S. Army veteran and dedicated public servant with over 36 years of combined military and federal service. She began her military career in the Women’s Army Corps, later serving as an Intelligence Analyst and achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. Her civilian career included key roles across the Department of Defense, including assignments in Hawaii, Korea, and the Marshall Islands. After retiring from federal service, Sara continued her impact locally as the Member Services Representative at the Greater Fayetteville Chamber.
A passionate community volunteer, she has served over 30 years with organizations like the USO and Cape Fear Regional Theatre. She is also a certified Army Family Team Building Instructor and owner of Ballard Bling Boutique. Sara is guided by her faith, actively involved at Simon Temple AME Zion Church, and finds joy in traveling, dancing, and connecting with her community.

Her career included key security roles, including assignments in Germany, Korea, Hawaii, and the Marshall Islands, retiring as a Special Agent from the Department of Defense. Sara is a proud honors graduate holding a BS in Psychology from Fayetteville State University. She is currently employed as a Member Services Representative at the Greater Fayetteville Chamber.
A lifelong passionate community volunteer, she has provided over 30 years of community service with organizations like the USO, the Arts Council, as well as numerous civic, church and military organizations, receiving the President’s Volunteer Service Award. She is an active member of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), and a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
